Hello everyone! My name is Dallas. I'm a 22-year-old MIDI musician and retro computer enthusiast from Canada. I've been passionate about MIDI music ever since I discovered onestop.mid at age 7 on my childhood Windows XP desktop. That discovery sparked my fascination with MIDI music and made me associate the MIDI format with Windows XP.

My passion for MIDI music led to the creation of Sunset Drive.mid in April of 2019. It was my first time composing an original MIDI song and I couldn't believe how well it turned out. Throughout 2019, I composed seven more songs and on New Years' Eve, Sunset Drive by DCG Retrowave was released on all major platforms.

A lot has changed since then. In early 2020, just after releasing the single, "Restart," I would acquire my first vintage MIDI synth, the Roland SC-88 from 1994. While I had planned to release another album by the end of 2020, I ended up taking an extremely long break from original compositions to focus on remixes and covers instead. This allowed me to familiarize myself with the GM/GS formats more as well as the various features found on Roland's classic synths. I'd also end up getting the BOSS DS-330 (an SC-55 alternative that sounds nearly identical) during this two-year break and would make my return in April of 2022 with "Moonlit District," a new track composed for the DS-330. This was my first original composition that wasn't recorded using any soundfonts. Previously, my sounds used zero effects and weren't even GM-compatible. I was now composing proper MIDI files like it was the 1990's all over again.

Throughout 2022, I would compose two more tracks, but then got busy with life for awhile. I knew I wasn't done as during this time, I picked up the Roland PMA-5 (a portable SC-55), the Roland JV-30 (basically an SC-55mkII MIDI keyboard), and the legendary SC-55 itself. However, I just kept losing focus and it seemed like a new album would never release. Well, that all changed in May of 2023...

I suddenly felt so much inspiration! I started making "Signal Lost" and I immediately knew that I had my next hit single. Before even completing the song, I began work on the music video. The premise of the video is that someone (played by yours truly) is lost in the middle of nowhere with no recollection of how he got out there and is desperately trying to find cellular reception in order to find his way back to the city. With this song finished, I began work on the final few tracks to prepare my next album for release!

This new album, "Communication Established," released on December 31st, 2023. The amount of variety on this one album was insane, especially when compared to Sunset Drive which released exactly four years earlier. While this album as of right now hasn't gotten too much attention, those who have listened are hooked and can't wait for more...

On April 23rd, 2024, "Satellite Station" was released. This new single composed for the Roland SC-88 was made to celebrate the five-year anniversary of DCG Retrowave music!
